Personal preference is the most important consideration when deciding where to set your carb/fat slider. If you enjoy eating a higher carb diet, drag the slider more toward carbs. If you prefer eating fatty foods, drag the slider more toward fat. The main factor that determines whether you’ll be successful on a diet is your ability to stick to it, so you should eat what you enjoy.

As you track each day, there might be some days that you prefer higher carbs and some where you prefer higher fat. The Edit Balance slider in the tracker gives you the ability to exchange carbs and fat each day to fit your preferences and macro needs.

Outside of preference, another consideration that might affect your carb/fat decision would be whether you’re an athlete. Since carbs are the body’s preferred form of fuel during high-intensity workouts, you’ll want to ensure that you’re getting enough if you engage in this style of training. This might entail dragging the slider more toward carbs to optimize performance. On the other hand, if you’re a little more sedentary or struggle with high blood sugar, you might want to drag the slider more toward fat.
