Teenagers who haven’t yet finished puberty should gain a certain amount of weight as they grow, but because Avatar was built specifically for adult users, the system doesn’t factor this into its adjustments. As a result, calories can be inappropriately cut if a teenage user falls short of their expected weight loss goal or exceeds their expected weight gain goal due to the added weight of growing tissue.
For this reason, teenagers who have not finished puberty should NOT use the system. If your teenage son or daughter is not yet a legal adult but has finished puberty and is done growing, he or she must receive parental consent before using the system and consult a physician before following the nutritional recommendations provided by Avatar.
