Diabetes is a chronic condition that results in high amounts of glucose (carbs) in the blood. Many people with diabetes (particularly type I diabetics) will need to take drugs to help them clear and maintain healthy blood sugar levels, and this may mean manipulating medication dosages based on carbohydrate intake and distribution.

In general, the total carb content of meals and snacks is the major determinant of drug dosages, but if you have type II diabetes, your level of insulin resistance may change with calorie restriction and weight loss warranting medication adjustment or even discontinuation.

Since there are many dietary factors that can impact your condition and medication regimen (if you take them), it’s important that you consult with your doctor before starting Avatar Nutrition.
