Avatar Nutrition allows users to set their weight loss goal to varying levels of aggressiveness using the goal slider. The further the slider is to the right, the more weight the user will be expected to lose each week. 


When choosing your weight loss level, you’ll need to decide how quickly you’d like to lose weight, how comfortable you are with being hungry, and how important it is that you preserve muscle and a healthy metabolism.


The more aggressive the weight loss goal, the lower your calories will be and the more likely you are to be hungry, lose muscle, and ultimately slow your metabolism. 


Faster weight loss isn’t always better!


By selecting a slower to moderate weight loss option (the slider toward the left), you’ll be able to diet on more calories while preserving muscle and protecting your metabolism, which will put you in a better position to keep lost weight off for good. 


Remember that you can also adjust the slider at any time as needed!


Note: If you have a higher body fat percentage (think more than 20% for men and 30% for women) you’ll be at less risk of losing muscle on an aggressive weight loss goal. This is because your body has more fat stores to turn to for energy, and can dip into these reserves rather than breaking down muscle for fuel.
