Hunger is an inevitable and normal consequence of dieting.

To lose weight, you’ll need to eat fewer calories than you burn so that your body is forced to dig into your fat stores for energy. Hunger is a built-in survival mechanism to counter this loss of fuel reserves—so if you’re successfully losing weight, you will experience some degree of hunger.

However, there comes a point where hunger can become unmanageable. If you’re miserable and experiencing frequent urges to binge, this is a sign that calories are unsustainably low. At this point, you should either change your weight loss setting to one that is less aggressive (slide the weight loss goal slider more toward the left), or start a reverse diet.

If your hunger is manageable, your calories are reasonable, and you’re still losing weight on your weight loss setting, stick with your current macro recommendations and let the system guide you to your goal.
