How does muscle gain on the Avatar system work?
To optimally build muscle, you’ll need to follow a structured weight training program and be in a calorie surplus, which means you’ll be eating more calories than you burn each day. The number of extra calories you’ll eat and the amount of weight you’ll gain each week will depend on the aggressiveness of the muscle gain setting you choose.
If you don’t gain enough weight as defined by your chosen muscle gain setting, your calories will go up until you gain the right amount of weight. If you gain far too much weight, your calories will be reduced.
What muscle gain setting should I choose?
When choosing your muscle gain setting, you’ll need to decide how much weight you’d like to gain each week and how much body fat you’re comfortable putting on.
Even if you choose the most aggressive muscle gain setting and follow the perfect training program, there’s a limit to the amount of muscle that you can build each week. Any excess calories that aren’t used to build and remodel muscle or fuel better gym sessions will be stored as fat!
So, if you’re concerned about staying lean, choose a slow or moderate muscle gain option. If you’re a hard gainer wanting to get big and strong at any cost, choose a more aggressive option with the slider closer to the upper limit.

When should I end my muscle gain phase?
Gaining an appreciable amount of muscle takes time—especially for people who aren’t new to weight training. To get the most out of your muscle gain phase, you’ll need to be patient and stick with the muscle gain setting for at least several months before switching goals.
