When you know you’re going to be out of range in the coming days or weeks, it can be smart to plan ahead. Members often wonder if it’s better to just mark “Out of Range” for each check-in during that time, or if they should go into Vacation Mode instead. Either way, the system won’t be adjusting your macros during that time. Here’s how you decide:
1. When to Use Vacation Mode
You should plan on switching to Vacation Mode if you know you won’t be following your macros for an extended period of time. If it’s longer than a week, Vacation Mode makes more sense than just checking in as “Out of Range.” This will put your macros on hold until your return, and you’ll have the option to adjust your macros when you get back.

2. When to Just Mark Out of Range
In contrast, you should try to just weigh-in as “out of range” whenever you won’t be following your macros for less than a full week. That way, you’re still on track with your check-in schedule and the system can pick back up with macro adjustments the following week. Even if you’re going on an actual vacation, if it’s only a few days you can (and should) just mark “out of range” on the check-in for that week.
One exception to these choices is if you want to gather check-in data on your profile, even while you’re not compliant. Maybe you’re planning to take a month or two off, and you want to keep track of your weight while you don’t track (or strictly follow) your macros. In that case, you should keep checking in, and just mark “Out of Range” each time until you’re ready to start getting on track and having your macros tailored to your goals again.
