What Do I Need to Know to Get Started on the Maintenance Goal?

Who should choose the maintenance goal?

The maintenance goal is for those who want to maintain their current weight, take a break between goals, or need to maintain higher calories after a reverse diet before moving on to weight loss.

How does maintenance on the Avatar system work?

The maintenance setting allows you to stay within a defined weight range centered on your current bodyweight.

You’ll decide exactly how much to allow your weight to fluctuate, and if your weight drops below or above that range the Avatar system will increase or decrease your prescribed calories to get you back on track.

***Note: If you decide to adjust your selected weight range, your current weight at the time you make the change will be used as your new maintenance weight.

Why is it necessary to switch to maintenance after a reverse diet?

While reversing, calories are gradually increased each week to increase your metabolism. Because it takes a long time for your body to adapt to higher calories, there can sometimes be a “lag” in adaptation, where not all of the extra food you eat is burned off.
